The children worked together in two mixed groups - renewing old acquaintances and learning to share ideas and work alongside their peers. Ardwhallan is a fantastic venue (especially in the sunshine!) and provides a safe, yet challenging venue for the children to take risks and push themselves to try new experiences. When asked about what challenges they were hoping to tackle, one boy stated that he was disappointed that he couldn't make the jump into the reservoir last time the class were there. He got soooo close, but decided against it when the time came to 'jump'! On reflection he regretted not giving it a go. Sopping wet, he gave a thumbs up, with a huge grin - "I did it this time!"
As well as the 'wetter' activities, the children engaged in some team building and personal challenges. One of the communication activities requires the children to describe a lego construction through a wall, where their team mates have to rebuild the construction using their description. It's a tough challenge, yet some children were extremely good at sequencing their ideas and communicating them effectively. Great to see!
